According to Forbes, IBM announced a partnership with Apple on health care big data to launch a health care program called "Watson Health."
The two parties will use IBM's "cognitive computing system" Watson to upload the user health medical data collected by the iPhone and Apple Watch to the cloud storage space and share it with doctors and insurance companies. Users who choose to join the Apple ResearchKit program will share this data with medical research institutions.
At present, many medical companies including Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic will participate in this project.
It is reported that the cooperation between IBM and Apple is not an exclusive agreement. John Kelley, senior vice president of IBM, said that with the exception of IBM, few other companies can provide the same level of cloud storage and security. "User health and medical data is very sensitive, and Apple has confidence in IBM's data security," Kelley said. "It's time to change the industry."
ResearchKit is Apple's health care open source framework launched at the March Spring Festival launch, and HealthKit is the corresponding iOS app. With HealthKit, medical researchers can more easily develop medical research apps and collect health data from iPhone and Apple Watch users (after obtaining user authorization) through three modules provided by Apple—investigation, informed consent, and active tasks. In order to promote the treatment of disease treatment in different fields. The first five applications were for Parkinson's, Asthma, Diabetes, and Cardiovascular Diseases. The Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University also joined the program.
Prior to this, IBM partnered with Apple in the enterprise application market and launched eight enterprise applications earlier this month. This cooperation in health and medical data will undoubtedly deepen the "feelings" of both sides.
