He also said that since the national standard has increased bromate detection indicators, on the basis of each batch of self-inspection, the water plant will commission a qualified third-party testing agency to conduct spot checks every month. Since early China rarely used ozone to sterilize water, the national standard for drinking natural mineral water in China did not establish bromate limit requirements. However, in recent years, mineral water companies have generally adopted the ozone sterilization process, resulting in the prominent phenomenon of bromate. In 2006, the National Standards Commission issued a revised national standard for “drinking natural mineral water” and conducted a number of studies on bromate problems in mineral waters.
