2013 National Food Safety Risk Monitoring Plan to Be Implemented

The country will implement the 2013 national food safety risk monitoring plan, and the monitoring of food pollutants and harmful factors will cover at least 50% of county-level administrative regions.

The policy points out that in 2013, the Ministry of Health will focus on food, vegetables, meat, milk, infant food and illegal additives, and implement the 2013 national food safety risk monitoring plan. At the same time, it will also improve the food-borne disease management system and standardize food-borne disease surveillance, reporting, and epidemiological investigation of food safety accidents.

According to the key points of health work in 2013, this year China will expedite the revision of basic standards for pathogenic microorganisms in foods and other basic standards, strengthen food safety risk assessments, release “blacklists” of illegal additives in foods, and improve related inspection methods.

In order to strengthen the construction of health supervision system, the coverage rate of health supervision and management services in China will be expanded to more than 90% in 2013, ensuring 100% of the accommodations and swimming pools that achieve a quantitative management rate, and more than 50% of the beauty salons. The coverage rate of health surveillance for air-conditioning and ventilation systems reached over 50%, and the coverage rate of health supervision in primary and secondary schools reached more than 80%.
