The Massachusetts General Hospital has developed a new type of endoscope that can be used as a three-dimensional image. Scientists at the Photomedical Health Center of the Massachusetts General Hospital recently reported that a new type of endoscope capable of forming three-dimensional high-definition images has been developed. The range of applications for diagnostics and treatment.
Ordinary endoscopes use fiber optic bundles to provide illumination and deliver images. Endoscopes using image sensors are typically up to one centimeter in diameter. Endoscopes that use fiber bundles are more convenient but difficult to produce high quality images. This new device uses a technique called spectrally encoded endoscopy (see). Multi-colored light is transmitted through the fiber and is split into individual colors and illuminated onto the tissue at the probe of only the size of the hair. Different colors of light illuminate different parts of the tissue surface. The reflected light is collected, then wavelength analysis is performed using a broad spectrum spectrometer, and an interferometer is used to calculate structural information by interference of light. These combine to get a three-dimensional image.
Researchers say the biggest feature of the technology is the ability to form three-dimensional images. Moreover, its resolution is comparable to that of the existing small-radius endoscope, and its resolution will be 10 times higher than that of the existing endoscope after further optimization. [Composition]
The main component of this preparation is human immunoglobulin, which is prepared by cold ethanol fractionation of human plasma from healthy donors. The manufacturing process contains a step to remove anticomplementary activity and a dual viral inactivation process. It contains a suitable amount of glucose or maltose as stabilizer (see table below), but does not contain any antiseptic or antibiotic. The distribution of IgG subclasses is close to the serum level of normal subjects and maintains the bioactivity of Fc fragment of IgG.
[Indications]
1. Primary
agammaglobulinemia, such as X-linked hypogammaglobulinemia,
common variant immunodeficiency diseases, immunoglobulin G subclass deficiency,
etc.
2. Secondary
immunoglobulin deficiency diseases, such as severe infection, septicemia of
newborn, etc
