Seasonal cashmere growth

The growth of cashmere is different from that of wool. The growth of wool is continuous throughout the year. There is no shedding of cashmere, and the growth of cashmere is seasonal. The cashmere phenomenon occurs when the weather becomes warmer in the spring. The growth of cashmere begins with the shortening of the length of sunshine after the summer solstice, and it gradually becomes shorter with the sunshine, and the cashmere grows faster. After the winter solstice the sunshine changes from short to long, and cashmere grows slowly and gradually stops growing. During the year, cashmere began to grow in the equinox of the sun from the long to the short period, and ended in the equinox of light from the short-changing period, so the season of cashmere growth coincides with the breeding season. Under the same climatic conditions, there are differences in the timing of the growth of different cashmere goat breeds. According to research reports, the Liaoning cashmere goats began to sprout in June and grew in July in the Ningxia region. The maximum growth period was in September; Cashmere goats began to grow in August; native goats began to grow in September. Although the time period for the growth of different types of cashmere fibers is different, the end time is basically the same, that is, in February of the following year. Such different cashmere goat breeds have different lengths of villus growth period, while long-growing breeds have relatively high cashmere yields, and short-growing breeds have relatively low cashmere production. In addition to the varietal factors, the temperature and humidity of velveteen fiber have a significant effect on the growth period. Studies have shown that cashmere goats prefer a cool, dry environment and cannot tolerate high temperature and humid weather conditions. The continuous high temperature in summer and the rainy and wet conditions delay the growth time of fluff and shorten the growth period of cashmere fibers, resulting in a decrease in cashmere production. Cashmere goats should choose dry and cool hillside grazing to avoid grazing in low-lying and hot places. When the temperature is high at noon, the sheep should be rushed to the shady places to take a rest. As soon as possible, cashmere goats should be provided with a cool and dry environment to facilitate the villus germination. Grow. China Agricultural Network Editor
