Goat coccidiosis

Goat coccidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by parasites of Eimeria in parasites in the gut. With acute or chronic enteritis as the characteristics, lambs are prone to morbidity and mortality is high. Adult goats are worms, and only infections do not occur.

(I) Pathogens

The more serious coccidia harming goats in China are Eimeria pumilus, E. amylovora, E. aureus, and Eimeria tenella, which are 29 microns in size. 21 Micrometers, 27 micrometers, 18 micrometers, 45 micrometers, 18 micrometers, and 23 micrometers and 18 micrometers are ovoid.

(b) Developmental teeth. Infection characteristics

The development of coccidia does not require an intermediate host. When the sheep swallows an infective oocyst, the sporozoites escape in the intestine and the fission occurs in the small intestine, producing merozoites. The merozoites develop to a certain stage and form. Large and small gametophytes, large and small gametophytes combined into oocysts, excreted in the appropriate environment to form sporulated oocysts, that is, infectious. Adult sheep infections do not develop, and lambs 2 to 6 months of age are susceptible to disease. Mainly through the digestive tract infection.

(c) Symptoms

The diseased sheep suffered from loss of appetite. Mildly infected persons excreted soft excrement of fecal samples. Severely infected patients had elevated body temperature at the beginning of illness and then decreased. The performance was acute diarrhea, followed by odorless bloody stools, followed by anemia, weight loss, and cramps. Lambs are at a higher mortality rate if left untreated. Tolerant sheep can produce immunity.

The necropsy of the dead sheep shows obvious lesions in the small intestine. There are pale or yellow ovoid nodules on the intestinal mucosa, ranging from miliary to peas, and catarrhal inflammation in the duodenum and ileum. Bleeding.

(4) Prevention and control points

First, because the sporulated oocysts are very resistant to the outside world, they are generally sterilized by using hot alkali water at 70-80°C and 3% in pots and utensils. If necessary, flame disinfection is used.

Second, adult sheep and young sheep are kept separately, giving good nutrition and enhancing the body's resistance.

Third, the choice of treatment drugs: 1 salinomycin, 0.33 to 1.0 mg per kilogram of body weight mixed feed, feed 2 to 3 days; 2 ammonia propionate, 145 mg per kilogram of body weight mixed feed, and even feed 2 to 3 weeks; 3 pairs of acute cases with sulfadimethoxine, taking 50 to 100 mg per kilogram body weight per day, taking 4 to 5 days.
