"Transfusion" makes people return to youth? Mostly fascinated by vampire legends

A US startup has recently begun an anti-aging method: replacing the blood of the subject's body with the blood of a young person, with the intention of helping them "return to youth." This experiment, like a vampire story, has caused a lot of controversy.

The startup "Ambrosia", founded by American entrepreneur Jesse Kalamagin, is currently conducting experiments to study the health effects of entering young people's blood and plasma. The company recruited 600 volunteers to receive blood donated by donors between the ages of 16 and 25 within two days. Participants are required to pay $8,000 for this.

Karamagin said that within a month, 30 participants had received one-time input of about two liters of plasma after removal of blood cells, and most of them had "visible benefits" such as Attention to attention, appearance and muscle tone.

The 32-year-old Princeton graduate said it was inspired by a "cross-species symbiosis" experiment that connects the blood vessels of two mice. In 2013, Harvard researchers stitched a young mouse to an old mouse, sharing a blood circulation system. The blood of young mice seems to rejuvenate the old mice.

The study, published in the journal Cell, states that a protein called GDF11 in the blood of young mice restores the muscles of old mice. But then other researchers failed to repeat the above results.

Some researchers pointed out that in the Harvard experiment, the blood circulation system of two mice shared nearly 4 weeks, and the short-lived one-time blood transfusion experiment of Kalamakin could make people suspicious.

"Transfusion" does have some effect in the clinical treatment of Alzheimer's disease. In 2014, Stanford University neuroscientist Tony Weiss-Kray discovered through research that young mice have improved neuronal growth and memory after receiving 10 blood transfusions in young mice. On this basis, Weiss Coray also set up a startup to carry out larger research.

In an interview with the MIT Science and Technology Review, Weiss Cory said that some people believe that young people's blood contains youthful energy, but it is not clear about the mechanism of changing blood to make mice younger. Whether this mechanism will work in people, "maybe people are fascinated by vampire legends."

In addition, blood transfusions can cause many side effects, such as urticaria, lung damage, and even fatal infections. Dobri Kiprov, director of the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, USA, said he had seen people interested in the experiment, but he tried to persuade them not to experiment, so as not to be exposed to unnecessary risks. Veterinary Ultrasound Scanner

As customers have higher and higher requirements for animal reproduction and animal disease diagnosis and treatment, traditional diagnostic methods such as visual inspection, stethoscope listening, thermometer inspection, and percussion and hammering can no longer meet the needs of animal husbandry production and veterinary clinics. Today, B-ultrasound is playing a big role in human medical diagnosis, and in the future, B-ultrasound will also play a role in animal medicine. We should promote the use of veterinary ultrasound scanner step by step according to the actual situation, popularize the knowledge of the use of veterinary ultrasound scanner, take this as an opportunity, and use it as a ladder to improve the level of veterinary practice in our country.
