China's robot industry has a high growth potential in the field of medical services

With the continuous improvement of robot application technology and the aging of the population, medical robots and home service robots will become an important tool to cope with the aging of the population and self-care for the disabled. The future demand will increase year by year.

According to the classification of the International Robot Federation, medical robots belong to professional service robots, which can be divided into diagnostic robots, surgical assisted robots, rehabilitation robots and others. Data show that in 2014, the global sales of medical robots was 1,224 units. Among them, the sales volume of surgical assisted robots was 978. Surgical robots have a wide range of applications, overcoming the problems of poor precision, long operation time, fatigue of doctors and lack of three-dimensional precision vision in traditional surgery. The IFR agency predicts that by 2018, global sales of medical robots are expected to exceed 4,000 units.

With the rapid development of the robot industry, medical robots are highly concerned by countries. The United States has identified surgical treatment robots, prosthetic robots, rehabilitation robots, psychological rehabilitation assisted robots, Personal Care robots, and intelligent health monitoring systems as the six research directions for future development. At present, Europe also plans to establish a "Robotics for Health-care" network to promote the development and application of medical robots in Europe. According to market research firm GrandViewResearch, by 2020, the global medical robot market will reach $17.9 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 12.7%.

At present, China's medical robots are still in the stage of research and development or clinical trials, and the overall development level is not high. There are no large-scale medical robot products that have been formed. The penetration rate of medical robots in major hospitals is also relatively low, which is quite different from that in developed countries. The data shows that in 2014, the total size of China's medical device market was nearly 255.6 billion yuan, and the import of medical devices accounted for 40% of the total market share. Among them, the medical equipment in the middle and high-end market is almost covered by foreign manufacturers, accounting for more than 70%, and the future import substitution space is larger. In addition, there are relatively many R&D enterprises for rehabilitation robots in China, and most rehabilitation robots are in the stage of research and development and testing. At present, a small number of rehabilitation robots have begun mass production and have been widely used in clinical practice.

High-speed growth of China's robot industry

In terms of policy, in April this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission and other three ministries jointly issued the "Robot Industry Development Plan (2016-2020)", which proposes that by 2020, the annual output of China's industrial robots will reach 100,000 units. Among them, the number of robots with six axes and above has reached more than 50,000, the density of robots has reached 150 or more; the annual sales revenue of service robots has exceeded 30 billion yuan, and small batch production and application have been realized in the fields of helping the elderly, helping the disabled, and medical rehabilitation; cultivating more than three The leading enterprises have built more than five supporting industrial clusters of robots. Driven by the series of policy support and market demand, China's robot industry will usher in a period of rapid development.
